The Durban Marina emerged out of the three local Yacht Clubs in this Basin, ie PYC, RNYC and DBOA. The Marina manages and controls the moorings, leaving the Yacht Clubs free to participate and enjoy the sport of sailing and/or fishing.
The Durban Marina is situated in the Bay of Durban, in close proximity to City Centre. This gives it an advantage over other Yacht Basins as once a "Yachtie" has moored his vessel on arrival, he only has to walk across the road, down a lane, and he is in the hub of the centre of Durban.
Banks, supermarkets, restaurants, hotels and entertainment, are all in close proximity to the Durban Marina Yacht Basin. Tours to Game Reserves are in demand by International Yachties, with visits to the Drakensberg Mountain Resorts coming a close second.

Services

Durban Marina manages to upkeep, rental and sales of moorings for small craft on the waters of the Durban Yacht Basin, such as yachts, catamarans and motor-boats. It is also referred to by the Port Authority as the "Small Craft Basin".
The service offered are the provision of moorings, with security and safe harbour for the vessels, in conjunction with the three local Yacht Clubs which provide restaurants, internet facility, and those valued meetings in the Bar with fellow Yachties, when both the thrills and chills of sailing the
oceans are discussed at length.
